Zero-knowledge sync

Your servers stay yours

When you turn on sync, everything is encrypted on your device before it's uploaded, so the sync server only ever holds data it can't read.

Encrypted on your device

A key is derived from your password with PBKDF2-SHA256 (100,000 rounds). It never leaves your devices.

Stored as ciphertext

The server keeps an AES-256-GCM encrypted snapshot and an scrypt hash of your password. Nothing readable.

Unlocked where you sign in

Your other devices download the snapshot and decrypt it locally with the same password.
